Travel Korea: Jeonju

The ever sexy, gorgeous, smart SNU buddy Sue organized a trip to Jeonju, her hometown, for foreign and Korean students in SNU. There were 25 of us who went there. There were two things in my mind before going there: (1) The JIFF or the Jeonju International Film Festival, since I love movies and (2) experience Jeonju ^^; We left around 9ish in the morning by bus and arrived in Jeonju around 1, so we had lunch right away. Oh by the way, the trip was organized by the ever sexy, gorgeous, smart Sue, as I said lol and was sponsored by the Jeonju City tourism council ^^ Meaning everything was for free ^^ Our lunch was bimbap^^ As we know, Jeonju is known to have the best bibimbap in Korea and to that extent the world since bimbap is a Korean food..haha make sense right? lol I have to admit it was really good ^^
Then we started the tour. We walked around Jeonju's traditional district. Some of the famous places we saw were Jeonju Gyeonggi-jeon which is like a small version of the palaces in Seoul, Jeondong Catholic Church, Pungnammun said to be the the last surviving section of Jeonju's old city wall. The town itself has impressve structures of the houses and stores, purposely built in a "traditional" way to camouflage with the other structures.
Another thing that Jeonju is famous for is Hanji, a traditional Korean paper. They made us do our own artwork from it ^^ Then the paper fashion show ^^ I'll show it my other entry.
One thing I will never forget about the trip was food^^ Food was overflowing^^ Since it was JIFF, the place was also crowded. There were many tourists who went there probably mainly for the JIFF. We stayed in a motel, Yep you reas it right motel. ^^; Hotels were all occupied but the motel was perfectly fine. One big tv, computer with internet, coffee etc. It was really good^^ and to think it was all for free^^
At night we went to the center of Jeonju to witness the crowd and places. As expected the place was crowded. JIFF's atmosphere is all over the place. The staffs were very accommodating too. The next day we watched a South African film "My Secret Sky" which is really good. I was so happy because the trip didn't only give me the two things that I was expecting before going to the place. But it also made me experience a lot of things and everything was for free ^^ kkk
