Seoul Subway Adventures: Line 3 Version

This is the map of the Seoul Metro subway. There are 9 lines plus the lines going to nearby Gyeonggi areas, with colors designated on every line. The main line is green or line no.2. This is probably the most crowded line but also my most favorite since it takes me to Seoul's important places. However, this entry is not about the green line but about the orange one ^^ line 3.

You can see a lot of beautiful place as well just by taking line no. 3. The palaces in Seoul are usually located near line 3 stations (Gyeongbuk, Anguk and Jongno 3-ga stations), two main bus terminals (Express and Nambu bus terminals) and many more interesting places. Here are some of the places I think very interesting..^^
The Namsangol Hanok Village (남산골한옥마을)

located near Chungmuro Station. I went there past 5 in the afternoon so it was already dark. The location is amazing since it's in the middle of Seoul's skyscrappers and we could see the famous Namsan Tower. As stated in some sources, the village offers opportunity to experience a wide cross-section of Joseon-era citizenry and activities, from royalty to commoners. These houses were rebuilt after the traditional houses of Joseon Dynasty. The houses belong to various social ranks of the society from peasant to king. Other interesting features were traditional Korean games, rice cakes and it's for free ^^

The Seodaemun Prison Hall (서대문 형무소)

Everyone may think that the place could be located somewhere Seodaemun Station however that wasn't the case. It's located at exit 5 of Dongnimmum Station. The prison was used during the Japanese rule of Korea to house anti-colonial activists, and was said to accommodate around 500 prisoners. The place was quite big. It was detailed in showing the tortures made by the Japanese to Koreans during that time. What's funny was that I met a couple, a Japanese and a Korean, who were taking pictures of every room and they seemed to be enjoying it. I was like wow I hope they're aware of what they were doing. lol. Anyway, I think this is a must see place. You get to learn a lot. A different site compared to any other sites in Seoul.

For a 1,000 won entrance fee, you can see a lot and you could probably meet friends or other tourists, just like what I did. ^^ Here's my new found friend ^^v
