What happened to Joo Ji Hoon?

Actor Joo Ji Hoon is featured in GQ Magazine’s January 2012 issue but it seems that it is getting a not-so-good feedback from the fans of the actor. I didn't know anything about it but my girlfriend got mad when she saw the pics so she kept on nagging at me about it. hahaha.
Apparently, Ji Hoon is one of her favorite K celebs. After serving the military, many fans are excited of Ji Hoon’s comeback but looking at the photos one would probably say “What happened to the good looking and charming Prince Lee Shin of Princess Hours?”

Based on GQ’s website the title is “One day in a cold winter: Old Boy.” Then a short description says “In a cold day… you stay home the whole day. You can be a dreamer or a critic, an old person or a child. Absolute imperfection… one day in a cold winter”

Take a look at the rest of the photos and tell me what you think.

I would say it's a bit disturbing...but it somehow gave me a sort of "story" although I'm not sure if I'm getting what the photographer wanted to convey here.

If we go according to the concept, you'll have to look "crazy" or "natural" in the picture since you are alone in a cold winter day in your house, your supposed to be comfort zone. You can wear anything you want and you can be anyone you want because no one will see you and think that you've gone insane. From the photos, try using your imagination and play your own story. It would be nice if you could share your thoughts too. hehe

Jaejoong's kissing scene that made all girls cry... (Protect the Boss)

Just saw this drama spoiler post from allkpop.com earlier (allkpop.com is a leading source of information and updates regarding K-pop/ Korean artists).  At first I thought it's a good way to get more viewers. The drama "Protect the Boss" where Hero Jaejoong of JYJ is one of the leading actors, is currently airing here in Korea and it's getting a fairly high viewership.

But when I read the some comments of his fans, many feel sad and broken hearted...hehe. Of course not all. Some are quite positive and 'pretended' not to mind. hihi Now I'm not sure whether it's a good strategy ...or... well... yeah... maybe I'm right... I guess SBS can expect a higher viewership.  After all Jaejoong's fans are very supportive, no matter what, they will support him ^^

The drama is broadcasted on SBS every Wednesday and Thursday at 21:55.

Other Main Casts are
Choi Kang Hee, Ji Sung and Wang Ji Hye  (the so-called lucky girl).

The drama is fun to watch so if you haven't watched it better start watching now!

Here's the link of the article from allkpop.com

Korean Drama: Heartstrings

Watching Korean dramas has been part of my routine here in Korea. Well, not just because I have to since it's part of my research but I find it very helpful in understanding Korea in terms of its past and modern culture, trends, language, especially the sort of "phenomena" embedded on it.
Heartstrings is not just another "cute" type of drama, well maybe the "love story" but it has something that really got my attention. I'm talking about the setting. It's about the university life plus it's in an art school.I have many friends who go to these schools in Korea, especially performing arts.

Here's an article about the drama

The life and love of university performing arts students will hit the small screen today through MBC’s new drama “Heartstrings.”
Star director Pyo Min-soo returns with “fresh green” stories set at a performing arts school.
“The word ‘youth’ reminds me of many things. I will portray the sweat and passion of artistic people in this drama,” Pyo said during a press conference last Thursday. “This drama is about people dreaming of art.”
Pyo is known for expressing the delicate world of professionals such as “Full House” (2004) and “The World That They Live in” (2008).

Heartthrob Jung Yong-hwa, CNBLUE’s singer and guitarist, plays Lee Sin, an applied music student and guitarist of a school band “The Stupid.” It’s his second time to star in a television drama, following “You’re Beautiful” (SBS, 2009).
The singer-actor’s eyes lit up when he talked about the role.
“I fell in love with my character and researched him a lot. He might seem curt and cold, but he is dedicated to music, his family and this dance professor,” he said.
“I got the idea from Kaede Rukawa in hit manga ‘Slam Dunk,’ who only knows basketball.”

Snappy actress Park Shin-hye once again performs together with Jung after “You’re Beautiful.” Park plays Lee Gyu-won, a student of Korean traditional music playing the “gayageum” (traditional 12-string instrument). She falls for Lee Shin after watching his band, but her feelings take an unexpected turn when she is chosen as the heroine of the school’s 100th anniversary show.
She actually practiced the gayageum for about a month to play the instrument in the drama herself.
“I’ve got calluses and blisters on my hand, but at least, I can play the instrument enough for it to appear authentic on screen,” Park said.

The Korean title for the drama is “You’ve Fallen for Me,” but the production came up with a totally different English title “Heartstrings,” which recalls the instruments they play — the guitar and gayageum.

Song Chang-ui plays Kim Seok-hyun, a famed director from Broadway who returns to his alma mater to direct the centennial performance. When he returns to the school, he meets ex-girlfriend Jeong Yun-su, who left him to pursue her dance career but gave up due to injury.

The drama is co-produced by the Seoul Institute of the Arts, which provided its campus for filming. Song is a graduate of this arts-specialized university and returned to the campus to shoot the drama.

“The campus was moved from downtown Seoul to the current Ansan location when I was at the school. The classrooms, library and the atmosphere made me feel nostalgic,” Song said.

Actress Soh Yi-hyun plays a tragic dance professor Jeong, who is loved by both Lee Sin and Kim. CNBLUE band member Kang Min-hyuk also joins the drama playing a timid student.

Pyo thinks the student-professor relationship is a reciprocal one.

“What I think of the relationship between a teacher and a pupil is more like the relationship between Jung and me. I learn from him, while he learns from me. It is not a unilateral relationship, but we both give and receive something from each other.”

In the drama, the characters will grow through the 16 episodes, learning from each other whether they are students or teachers, he said.

The drama has already been sold to some eight countries before airing, including Japan, China and North America.
“Jung and Park’s popularity abroad ignited overseas sales of the drama,” an official of JS Pictures, the production company, said.

The show airs at 9:55 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays on MBC.

Your Boyfriends: So Ji Sub and Yoo Seung Ho

"Your Boyfriends" entries will feature stories of your Korean boyfriends. hahahahaha. I will try to introduce Korea's popular and good-looking actors, singers and boy groups since Korea owe a lot from them. A big chunk of foreigners in Korea came here because of "their boyfriends" promoting Korea as the hub for popular culture not just in Asia but to the world! hehe So our first entry would be tadaaaa So Ji Sub and Yoo Seung Ho

So Ji Sub
He is considered as one of the biggest stars in Korea. I personally think his counterparts are actors like Lee Byunghoon and Won Bin to mention a few. I'm not sure maybe many people would agree or disagree with me but I'm basing my arguments through So Ji Sub's blockbuster movies and the number of commercials we always see on TV. His very manly image makes him very attractive to ajummas, well this is according to my Korean teacher who really likes him. I remember one time in our class she blushed a lot when we ask her who her favorite actor was. Then my ajumma classmates also giggled and seems like they were fangirling. hehehe. I heard So Ji Sub is also very popular in Japan where he also had and still having a lot of projects.

Yoo Seung Ho

I'm quite sure Yoo Seung Ho has millions of fans out there. I first saw him in a commercial, I think it was a frozen yogurt, where he looks at the camera and tries to feed the viewers with the yogurt while saying ahh!. It became very iconic in Korea. Korean guys who wanna look cute in front of their girlfriends also do it a lot. I guess many of you are familiar with the aegyeo culture here. He became the ideal boyfriend type of girls who like boys younger than them. Anyway, the main reason why I put his story beside So Ji Sub is that Korean media dubbed him as "little So Ji Sub" because of his resemblance to him. They even made a lot of projects like commercials together.

I will only give short introductions since most the stories about them are already written on different websites.

Here's the commercial I was saying. Just found it while writing this entry. hehehe.

Hallyu 101: Tempatation of an Angel, 천사의 유혹

Temptation of an Angel , 천사의 유혹 (Cheonsaui Yuhuk) was a popular drama in Korea when it was being aired. I just finished watching the whole series the other day. I think the drama is really good. The pace is good and for every episode you could expect something new and exciting. The casting is also good. Lee So Yeon, Kim Tae Hyun, Bae Soo Bin, and Hong Soo Hyun are some of my favorite Korean stars. They were perfect for the roles. A must watch Korean drama but be ready not to skip meals, class or even work..lol
Synopsis:
After the death of her parents, Joo Ah Ran plots to ruin the family that destroyed hers. She seduces and marries the son of her enemy, Shin Hyun Woo, who discovers her plan belatedly. With a new face, courtesy of plastic surgery after meeting with a car accident, he decides to exact his own revenge upon her.
Interesting Info:
This was the male version of the successful daily drama of SBS which was Temptation of Wife.
According to wiki, this drama has the same blend with the female version, Temptation of Wife , which is making revenge to a person.
